Another major problem awaiting Taurus/Sable owners was the transmission. Chances were it would need replacing in the 80-120K mile range, and the tranny in this Taurus conked out right on schedule, at 82K miles.
So the transmission was replaced at considerable expense, and then the engine went tits-up 16K miles later. Clearly, this was a car that didn't want to live.
